About the Job

The selected SQL Server DBA will be responsible for database administration and data modeling which will require will need strong analytical, design and troubleshooting skills.  The DBA will be involved in monitoring production databases, identifying performance issues, performing implementations and supporting the development staff.Troubleshoot performance problems on and tune production databases. Support developers in SQL performance tuning. Perform logical and physical database backup and recovery. Develop and maintain necessary shell scripts. Develop and maintain the logical and physical data model with input from customers and developers. Assure compliance to database standards through the entire development life cycle. Generate appropriate ERDs and other database design documentation. Research and evaluate new features of SQL Server and their applicability to current application databases.  Participate in a pager rotation providing 24x7 support.

What is expected from the SQL Server DBA

The selected candidate must hold a 4 year college degree in computer science or a related field and have a strong background in production support of large & complex SQL Server 2000/2005 and related systems in an enterprise environment.  They must possess a solid understanding of TransactSQL, Scripting, & ERwin and any experience with Oracle and/or data warehousing is a plus.  This position requires critical thinking, logic, and attention to detail.  The incumbent will be dealing with people across the organization so they must have excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills and be able to cope in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment.  MCDBA certification would be a big plus.
