Implement databases that meet department standards and perform according to agreed upon response time and availability for the application. Provide technical consulting for the SQL programming and database access. Assist application developers in defining strategies and developing procedures for performing database integrity. Provide capacity space planning for expected database growth. Design the high-availability SQL servers using clustering and mirroring technology for mission critical applications. Assist in defining and implementing database security requirements. Database Operations and Maintenance:Provide competent hands-on production support of 200+ SQL instances. Monitor SQL databases for performance as well as maintain and tune the database as appropriate to maintain predefined service level agreements. Install, upgrade, patch, backup and recover SQL databases as specified by business and compliance requirements. Ensure database security in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley, Information Protection and Internal Auditing standards. Enforce company change control, patch management and information security standards and procedures. Adhere to company standards and procedures, maintain change control documents and follow problems through to resolution. Practice Disaster Recovery plans and procedures. Work with backup DBAs and provide databases documentation. Assist with the maintenance of the SQL Server database inventory. Provide 24*7 on-call support on a rotational basis.Task Management:Demonstrate a calm, rational and organized approach to tasks when under pressure. Manage and prioritize work, balancing multiple assignments. Manage own time effectively to respond to user requests and provide users with agreed to levels of service. Use written and oral communications to obtain clear understanding of the work to be performed and the expected outcome or result. Complete projects in a timely manner with a high degree of quality as defined by the clients. Communicate project status both formally and informally to supervisors, project sponsors, peers and clients.
